No doubt, walls are just more interesting with color. But, before you grab that can of chili pepper red, let Kelly Edwards take you through four step-by-step faux paint treatments that can be done on any wall to add a totally custom look -- no matter what colors you choose:
Rag roll -- applying a glaze with a rag or a rag roller can create more visual interest with a lot of contrast and dimension.
Linen – a simple dry brush can add a subtle hint of sophistication to your walls after applying a glaze.
Faux leather -- using a darker glaze and stippling it with a large brush can create a richer look.
Faux wood grain -- walls or even a table top can be painted to create an almost-believable wood grain look.
While these faux painting projects may seem daunting at first, taking it one section at a time will make it worth the effort in the end. Plus, these are techniques are meant have a free-flowing design, so don't worry if it's not perfect!
