I've lazed my way through so many summers on sunporches. We used to have one growing up, and my mom made it her personal mission to make it beachy and homey with comfy couches, bowls of sea glass and sculptural pieces of driftwood. While I don't have a porch of my own (yet!), I often steal away to my friend Cindy's screened-in gem of a space. We've had dinner parties on her porch. One summer her husband set up a projector and showed films on it. Sometimes we play games there. Life is always better when lived in a place with light pouring in.
Since I'm currently blogging from Cindy's porch, I was feeling a bit inspired. If I had a porch of my own, what would I want it to look like? I think I'd want it to look like one of these super pretty spaces.
Stunning Summer Sunporches
Once it gets warm, I pretty much like to stay put in the northeast. We wait all year for our five glorious months of summer. But this porch beckons me south. I love the mix of purples and greens and how it relies on the natural world to fill in as decor. Coastal Living
This porch had me at yellow. Check out the gauzy curtains and spare walls and those perfect little yellow table lamps. Now I just have to figure out how to squeeze a writing desk in there. Sigh. Apartment Therapy
I'm salivating over throwing a dinner party in this gorgeous glass sunroom. I'd serve things like heirloom tomato salad and grilled eggplant. As it turns to dusk, I'd light the space with candles. Oh-so-lovely! A Mad Tea Party With Alis
This room feels totally doable on a budget. I've seen nearly all of the pieces in this room -- lanterns, couch, coffee table -- at IKEA. The Design Public Blog

Check out the sunporch of HGTV's Green Home 2009. Best part of this outdoor porch is that you can hit a button on a remote control and shades will come down to screen it in. See more at HGTV's Green Home 2009.
A daybed from West Elm is paired with a simple white coffee table and neutral furnishings in this cute-as-a-button sunporch. The young couple that decorated the room are even cuter. See them at This Young House.
