Each month of the year is assigned a birthstone, and in the realm of fashion, we diligently wear our given stones. ShelterPop decided to take the idea of a birthstone one step further and offer you decorating deals to correspond with the gemstone of your birth month. First up: Rubies for July babies.

Rubies historically hail from the Far East, from countries such as Thailand, Cambodia and Afghanistan. These Eastern origins are reflected in our picks for decorating by birthstone: You'll find touches of Asian accents in the mix. Among the products below you'll also see a selection of glossy finishes and glass products that mimic the sheen of a real ruby.

The ruby is also an incredibly durable gem -- diamonds are the only harder birthstone -- so we have chosen pieces made from quality materials like hardwood and solid stoneware. Last but not least, we stuck to deep and medium-toned reds, for rubies are graded on the depth of their color.
