Kelly's vintage office

Kelly's office is exactly what you'd expect from the owner of a lovely little online vintage shop: thrifted items, hand-me-downs, and an emphasis on comfort. I loved it so much that I emailed Kelly to find out more!

What's the story behind your office, especially that great desk?
The desk was found at an estate sale for $20, so I stuffed it into the back seat of my convertible and brought it to its new home. It had been the grandmother's and her name is written underneath the top, a little detail I love. I originally debated sanding and painting the piece, but I just love the chippy, authentically worn surface and left it as found. It even has its original hardware.

Most of my home decor items are from estate sales and thrift shops. I love the hunt and bring home many great pieces that I then rotate around my house. My decor is never "finished." it's always evolving and since this picture was originally taken a year ago, my home has become even more cottage-inspired, with lots of vintage floral and landscape art around.

I feel good knowing that with the many vintage home decor items I've purchased that I'm taking a previously loved item and continuing its story in my home while also helping to recycle, repurpose and reduce waste.

What is your favorite thing about your room?
This room gets a lot of natural light, which is my favorite aspect of this room. The largest wall is almost entirely windows. I wanted the room to be fresh and cheery, which is why I chose a kiwi green for the walls and the windows are covered in sheers and light fabric valances.

What is your decorating "style"?
I don't follow any rules except one: if I love an item, it will work in my home. I guess if you were to define my decorating style, it would be "country cottage." I don't concern myself much with matching, but more that things coordinate and create a comfortable feeling. It all seems to work out in the end.
