Confession: My Connecticut roots are showing. For months now, every piece of clothing that I have purchased is white, navy or khaki. I recently bought my fifth striped t-shirt. Something about the classic look of preppy clothes speaks to me right now, in particular anything with a nautical feel to it.

Before I buy one more sailor shirt, I figured I might look to nautical-themed home accessories to satisfy my fix. So I poked around to see what I could find. Here are six items I'd love for my own home (or for my imaginary beach cottage).

Above is a cute canvas and rope canopy from Pottery Barn Kids. Hanging Sail Decor, $50 (on sale), potterybarnkids.com.

Totally knot-ical! This rope doorstop could also be used as a bookend. Rope Knot Doorstop, $39, ballarddesigns.com

Anchors Away! Photo: Fishs Eddy

Fishs Eddy's rope and anchor glasses are just begging for you to make a Dark and Stormy. Anchor & Rope glasses, $5.50.

Red or chrome, take your pick--you can't go wrong either way. Photo: Pottery Barn

Hurricane candle holders are a perfect storm of stylishness -- even if your backyard is miles from an ocean. Nautical lanterns, $24 to $34, Pottery Barn.

You can pretend a sea captain's wife hooked this pretty pillow. Photo: Garnet Hill

These sailing-themed pillow covers are a bit expensive, but you're paying for priceless, hand-hooked charm. Sail Away Hooked Wool Pillow Cover, $78, Garnet Hill

Sailboat or no sailboat, a personalized life preserver is pretty darn cool. Photo: L.L. Bean

How cute would this be in a bathroom at a beach house? Plus, it is Coast Guard approved, so it's actually rescue-worthy. Personalized Life Preserver, $80, L.L. Bean
