Amanda Johnson's Ohio home immediately appealed to me when I saw it on Flickr. We share a similar aesthetic: vintage and thrifted furniture, Mid-Century Modern style mixed with a few girly and shabby-chic items. I asked Amanda to offer us a peek inside of her home so I could find out where she snagged all her eclectic pieces. Turns out, her home is more budget friendly than I had expected. See what Amanda has to say about thrifting, scouring eBay and making more than half her decor.

Entry
The wall in the entryway is a hodge podge of frames she found at thrift and antique stores. The chair was thrifted at the Salvation Army for $20 --"It's in excellent shape," she says. The small credenza was harder to find -- "I'd been looking for the perfect size for so long. I finally found it on eBay," she says.

Living room
Amanda believes that pillows really make a space interesting. She got hers at cb2, Etsy, and a local thrift store. She thrifted the sofa for $60, while her brother found the Eames replica chair on Craigslist for a steal. (Note from Jaime: Mine too! Same replica chair, but I found mine on eBay!)

She and her father built the coffee table from old barn siding, just as they did the dining room table (more on that later). The legs are vintage hairpin legs found on eBay. She also found the lamp and rug on eBay. Wow -- the deals just keep on coming. "The cabinet which houses our media equipment was thrifted for $5," she says.

Dining room
"I was a newlywed with no dining room table but family friends of ours had just purchased a farm and had lots of disassembled 200-year-old oak barn siding," she says. That gave her an idea. She and her father created the dining room table from that wood and it's gorgeous! "The hanging light was a garage sale find," she says. "It was black wrought iron, but we spray painted it white and rearranged it to better fit our needs." The poster on the wall is from the Hurricane Katrina Relief Poster Project -- all of the proceeds went towards the relief funds. It's inside a frame from IKEA and was matted at a local craft store. Also from IKEA: the chairs!

Bedroom
The vanity table was found at a thrift store for $7. "It was a horrible yellowish veneer that I sanded down and painted white," she says. The chair was a hand-me-down from family friends. Later, she repurposed the vanity as a bedside table, as seen in the photo below.

The star of her bedroom may be that really cool LOVE headboard, which she made herself. You can do it too -- just check out the directions on her blog.

Thanks for sharing your home! I recently purchase a Malm headboard for all of 8 dollars from the as-is section and plan to do the same thing for my bedroom!

And I am super jealous of your Eames lounger -- I would settle for a replica -- I just want one!
