File this under "weird, yes, but totally cool." Looks like Spanish design/architecture firm Selgascano is trading in its cubicles for a woodsy hideaway deep in the forests outside Madrid.

office, woods, modern

How much work could a woodchuck work if a woodchuck could work in the woods? Photo: Iwan Baan

The plus side, I imagine, is that parking ticket reimbursements are virtually nonexistent. The down side? Actually... I can't seem to find one. A long, modern tunnel seems like the perfect setting for architectural creativity. "A giant Wiimote among the trees," Planet Mag likes to call it. With half of the building translucent and the other half opaque, sunlight floods the space from one end to the other. And with studies showing that increased sunlight makes workers more productive, I can only imagine the exceptional designs emerging from within these walls!

It's quite a good thing I'm neither an architect nor a resident of Spain, because I have a feeling Selgascano would be receiving daily resumes from yours truly!

Redefines the term "trailblazers," don't you think?
