Since I just moved into my apartment a few months ago, I'm still decorating -- I just decided on a living room rug but throw pillows are still dogging me. I'm also feeling like my space is a bit too neutral. So I've been thinking about making an inspiration wall for above my workspace. I have lots of gallery up now, but I want to incorporate fabrics, patterns, magazine clippings, maybe a favorite passage from my favorite book (The Time Traveler's Wife -- the movie comes out in two weeks!). In other words, I want it to feel more like my personal refuge, not a scene from a catalog.

I went looking for some ideas for a pretty inspiration board, and I found so many beautiful ones that I thought I'd share. Rather than try to create an inspiration wall in one day, it's more fun to collect special somethings over time. You can add and subtract, and let the wall evolve. Here is some inspiration to get you started!

Keep it neat. All of the images on this inspiration wall are similarly sized, which keeps the display neat and focused. I love that the gallery feel as vintage as the desk and lamp. giac1061, Flickr

Bright idea: Hang your inspiration wall from the rafters. It looks like this crafty person attached a fabric (or gift wrap) backing to the board, which really pretties it up. atelierpompadour, Flickr

You can hang anything on a bulletin board, even a pretty charm necklace. Maps of a favorite place can also inspire you. CBZ_Can_Do, Flickr

This inspiration wall offers a lesson in color. Most of the items play well with the salmon wall color. And I like that the desk accents seem like an extension of her pin-ups. yummygoods, Flickr

This is a super cool idea. Turn a metal platter from the dollar store into a magnetic bulletin board. Check out hannahkarina's flickr gallerytream for more inspiration. hannahkarina, Flickr

This craft room charmed me with it's neutral colors, antique typewriter and timeless inspiration wall. Remember, the best part about an inspiration wall is that they're a work in progress. You can always add -- and subtract. Domestic PDX
