Sharon Fraser is arguably my favorite Australian architect. A master of modern, clean lines, Fraser has the gift of re-envisioning a space in a completely unexpected way. And after checking out a more recent project (her own home!), I was ecstatic to see that her love of playfulness and modern minimalism carried through into her personal residence.

Located in Byron Bay, Australia, Fraser's lot boasts plenty of green grass and water elements, but my favorite aspect is the sculptures designed by Peter McLisky. From bunnies, ducks and trees to more abstract sculptures, McLisky incorporates plenty of fun into the home's surroundings, creating a surprising backdrop for a modern atmosphere.

And a modern atmosphere it is. Boasting Eames accents and customized furniture, Fraser's home is a clear-cut example of minimalism done right. By bringing in plenty of plants and natural elements, the aesthetic becomes warm and inviting, rather than a cold, stark minimalist space.

With a U-shaped architectural plan and a well-planned exterior, Fraser can enjoy the beautiful scenery without sacrificing square footage. By creating natural focal points such as a fire pit and in-ground pool, every square inch of this modern hideaway begs for relaxation.

After all, an architect needs heavy-duty R&R as much as the next guy (or in this case, gal!), right?
