DIY: Fragrant Lavender Bottles

Categories: DIY: Done in a Day, Crafts & Projects

Lavender is one of my favorite flowers. Its gorgeous color is rivaled only by its acute smell and, better yet, it remains in bloom for the entire summer. Why not harness the lavender's beautifully potent aroma and enjoy it in your everyday life? Create a lavender bottle with these simple DIY instructions and place it into a drawer or closet. The scent will infuse itself into all of your clothing. Getting dressed was never this much fun!

Here's how to do it!

1) Cut about 25 long stems of fresh lavender.

2) Remove any leaves on the stems.

3) Cut one yard of a 3/8-inch wide ribbon and tie it just below the blooms so that one end is really long and the other has little excess ribbon.

4) Fold the stems at the ribbon and back over the buds. Spread them out so that they are evenly dispersed around the flowers.

5) While still holding the stems over the buds, pull the long end of the ribbon out from the inside.

6) Weave the ribbon through the stems and down to the bottom of the buds. You can weave one, two, or three stems at a time.

7) Weave one row below the bottom of the buds. Place some hot glue on the ribbon and secure it. Cut off any excess ribbon.

8) Trim the stems so that they are about 6 inches long.

9) Use the extra ribbon to tie a bow around the end.

Enjoy the scent of lavender in your home!
