Ever heard of Belarusian textiles? I hadn't either, until a bit of research on textile history landed me on
this site. Gorgeous, no? Turns out Belarusian textiles originated from the weaving of Russian belts with ornamental fabrics, which could take up to a year to make. The belts were used to distinguish tribes, signify power and offer peace.

I'd love to own a similar textile in my home; perhaps as a cozy throw in the winter months, or a table runner for entertaining. As I can't seem to locate a Belarusian dealer in the U.S., I may have to settle for
this book to appease my craving.

Or perhaps
these IKAT pillows would make a good replacement for now? The color scheme is very similar, and the pattern seems to be closely related to the Belarusian examples.
And ooh!
This throw looks right up Belarusa's alley, as well! What do you think? And
this ottoman is equally stunning, although the pricetag scares me a bit.
Any readers know of a great location to scout out some of this lovely fabric? I'm all ears, and my couch is screaming for a cozy companion!
