Super Tiny Island Houses
The 1000 Islands, a region on the U.S./Canada border along the St. Lawrence River and the eastern shores of Lake Ontario, is actually made up of 1,864 islands. While many of them house castles, bed-and-breakfasts, golf courses and more, some of the tinier ones boast single tiny homes (many are privately-owned, but some are available for rent). You can, literally, live on your very own island. Check out the photo gallery of some of these amazingly tiny homes.
This tiny house is so hidden by shrubbery we had to squint to even see it!
"Just Room Enough" is the smallest island in the whole bunch. Residents can only put the outdoor furniture outside when the water level is low.
Even with neighbors, this tiny house would be peaceful.
From the air, this house looks like it's just floating along with the current.
How cute is this one? It looks as though it's built right on top of the water. I can barely even make out any land.
Imagine the breeze blowing through this bright little island paradise!
This house is trying to hide behind what little shrubbery can fit on a tiny island.
This home is one that I'd like to have -- architecturally interesting, yet modest.
This house is all roof -- it looks like it's half-sunken underground.
I think the Keebler elves might use this as their summer home.

We own a cottage property in the 1000 Islands area, on the
ReplyCanadian side near Gananoque Ontario, actually grew up there! A great stomping ground when we were teenagers!
Most of the properties shown are mere minutes by boat from our cottage....#8, the architecturally interesting one, is called "Napoleon's Hat" by the owners and the locals. It is truly a magical place, although some of the island cottages are very vulnerable to ice damage in the spring!
