Everything just looks cuter when it's smaller: kittens, tiny baby shoes, teeny tiny spoons, itty bitty grapes. Whatever it is, it's much more likely to get an "awwwwww" if it's tiny. That's why I just love these Mid-Century Modern dollhouses and miniature furniture. I'm a huge fan of the regular-sized adult Mid-Century Modern homes and decor, so I can't seem to get enough of them when they're a quarter of the size.

Vitra Miniatures are quite possibly the most sought-after mini chairs and accessories on the market. They're not cheap either. Many sell for over $200 and some upwards of $700, so you might be better off saving up for the life-sized version. Unless, of course, you're a collector. These miniatures are exact mini-replicas of their historical classic counterparts, which makes them very desirable.

Where do teeny tiny modernists live? Here! Photo: David Baker and Partners Architects

David Baker and Partners Architects created the Modularean Eco Dollhouse for an auction to benefit the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation. Although you can't order one for yourself, it's certainly nice to look at.

Unlike David Baker's design, the Villa Sibi modern dollhouse is available for purchase, and is perfect for your little modernist. The dollhouse was designed and created by Wolfgang Sirch & Christoph Bitzer, who also create beautifully simple wooden toys for children.

If the Vitra miniatures are too hot to handle, try a knockoff! Photos: The Retro Blog/Japanese Gift Market

The Retro Blog tells us that if you can't afford the Vitra miniatures, but still need some modern furnishings for your new modern dollhouse, then don't fret! Check out eBay or Japanese Gift Market for these Japanese mini-knockoffs. It's funny how even miniatures now have knockoffs!
