If you would have asked me last month what I thought about cane decor, I would have asked you about Christmas decorations. To be honest, cane was further from my mind than peppermills (although after Laura's article, I've changed my tune).

My grandmother had a cane table on her outdoor patio and it was so horrid-looking that she kept a tablecloth handy before any guest was allowed access to the backyard. And no, I'm not exaggerating. It was truly that bad.

But this week? This week I spotted a lovely design from Lab 31, and yes, it involves cane. Something about the reinvention of the mundane made my mind second-guess my anti-cane instinct. My eyes were opened to the beauty and I'm now a changed woman --- a self-professed cane addict.

And now I'm spotting wicker's older, more rigid brother everywhere. From chairs to candles, cane is taking my decor world by storm. My favorite find is this gorgeous pair of white cane lamps from Glo. At $795 for the pair, they're a pretty penny, but place them in a room heavy with pattern and you've got a global retreat on your hands.

Want a more subtle look? This cane headboard can transform your bedroom into a Victorian nook. Add plenty of white accents, some wood cottage pieces and your own mother won't be able to tell your bedroom from Florence Nightingale's.

Gotta go -- I'm off to steal my grandmother's patio table...(Kidding... not even cane can save that hideous thing!).
