There is something about an all white room that brings instant serenity to the eyes, the body and the mind. While few of us can maintain a two-palette non-cluttered room for long, I am immensely inspired by interior designer, Tom Stringer's bedroom featured in House Beautiful's February 2008 issue (note: it's number 39 of their big slideshow).

To get this look, the key is having the basic foundation pieces in white including the bed, bedside table, table lamp, and/or other freestanding pieces such as bookshelves, dressers and corner chairs. Accessories in your favorite color complete the two-palette look but have fun with the color you choose. If your color is green, mix and work with all its shades such as moss, forest green, and chartreuse. Here are some ideas to get this look for less.
