A sneak preview of Cardboardesign's new merch! Photo: Cardboardesign

Cardboardesign is a favorite brand of mine-I've long admired the company for their eco-friendly home products made form recycled and recyclable cardboard. Naturally, I was thrilled to stop by their booth to check out their latest designs.

On exhibit at NYIGF were several new products: A wall/room divider called Circle Wall; the latest piece in the Liquid Cardboard series (there was some confusion as to whether the new shape was No. 7 or No. 8); The Flexy, a minimalist cardboard toy inspired by the Slinky; and hippie-chic cardboard Peace Signs. Cardboardesign also had two great products for kids: The TV Theater, a tv-shaped stage for kids to play at acting within, and The Shark, a Jaws-worthy replica of a finned fish. Check out thumbnails of these up-coming products at right.

Back in January, at the last New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF), Cardboardesign exhibited a new product we were super excited about called the WishBoard.

The WishBoard is a framed piece of honeycomb cardboard and a bunch of colored slips of paper-the idea is for people to write wishes onto the papers and slip them into the slots in the cardboard. At the last show, Cardboardesign had a wall-sized version of the WishBoard in their booth as a display element. Well, the large-scale version of the product was so wildly popular that Cardboardesign brought it to market. (Personally, I think the WishWall would be a really lovely alternative to a guest book at a wedding--not that there are any wedding bells in my immediate future!)

MIO's brand new Organixe line. Photo: Laura Fenton

In other cardboard news, MIO unveiled its new Organixe line, which is a collection of flat-packed, cardboard storage pieces. The home office accessories are made from environmentally-friendly cardboard with orange or green accents. The line consists of magazine holders, storage boxes, paper trays and pencil holders, ranging from $4 to $14. The products haven't hit stores yet, but we bet they'll be a huge hit when they do. Above is a sneak peek at what the line will look like. We love MIO for keeping prices low and staying true to their motto: Green Design For Everyone. Cheers to that!
