Planning a party is just a click away. Photo: Flickr, Pasotrapaso
1) Order the invitations. A trip to the stationer is oh-so-dated. Plus, who has the time? Iomoi offers everything from punchy graphics to icon-emblazoned versions such as preppy camels and pagodas.
And for the truly planning averse, try Paperless Post where the name says it all. Invites are designed, ordered, and sent via email in a few short minutes. See Laura's review of the site.
2) Customize. A little bit of monogramming sure goes a long way. Order some party favors like cups, napkins or matches. It will look like you put in way more effort than you did!
Plus, you'll always have a cute souvenir, and your guests will have a favor to take home, too. Plumparty is a great resource -- get some lobster cups like these for a nautical-themed party, or opt for their peace sign napkins for any occasion.
3) Don't forget about the appetizers! I love to cook, but sometimes a meal for a big group can get overwhelming....even if it's just party food.
A favorite source is Appetizers to Go, where you can find classics like mini hot dogs and hamburgers and more sophisticated fare like artisanal gougeres (these amazing goat cheese–filled puffs) or Indian samosas.
Everything arrives frozen and you just pop most in the oven for 20 minutes or so, and they come out smelling so yummy and fresh. No one will ever know they were ordered!
4) If you really want to impress, fresh flowers are the way to go. Think a trip to your local florist is necessary? Well, think again.
Simple bouquets or a box of uncut flowers can be had from Flowerbud. I like the Tulips Grand Box where you get 120 flowers that are also sustainably farmed. There sure isn't anything like a party with a conscience!
