I'm a total country girl, born and raised in southern Indiana for the bulk of my life. Now that I've relocated to the Midwest after a short stint in Los Angeles, I'm thrilled to be back among my roots -- tall grass, thunderstorms and, yes, barn doors.

It seems I'm not the only one with barns on the brain. A glance around today's top interiors showcases an unusual trend in a variety of spaces -- barn doors. Come along. Let's take a gander.

Shown right, this modern space gets a country makeover with a charcoal sliding barn door. What was once a simple entryway seems to triple in space by adding the illusion of double doors. I love the juxtaposition of the cowhide rug and antique wood desk next to the oversize barn door. A beautiful combination indeed!

Need a touch more privacy in an existing room? Why not hang a barn door as a room divider a la Ruth Shivley. Or, take a cue from DC designer Darryl Carter and use a spare barn door as a canvas for artwork.

A barn door works perfectly in a small space where a swinging door may block some necessary real estate. For instance, the painted barn door shown right looks instantly chic in place of a normal door, and the result nearly doubles the space of the bathroom.

Feeling a tad more industrious? Why not create a family heirloom and turn that old barn door into a dining table? It's sure to seat more than enough guests for next month's dinner party, and your guests will have an instant conversation piece to chat about!

You love it, right? Find your barn door right here and start dreaming of new ways to use your country accent!
