There's a serious trend making the rounds these days; a trend I like to call Trunked. We've seen suitcase picnics and carry-on medicine cabinets, so it's only natural that a design lover with pyromaniac tendencies* would venture to create a fireplace out of a classic storage accessory.

The "Malle a Feu" translates into "The Travel Trunk of Fire" and indeed lives up to its name. And although Atria is well-known for its portable fireplaces, we haven't quite seen anything like this. A modern white trunk opens to reveal a luxurious mirrored bio ethanol conversation piece that will keep your guests cozy... and guessing.

When not being used to roast marshmallows, the trunk transforms into a lovely accent piece for the living room, bedroom or outdoor patio. Quite the accessible design, until, of course, you see the price tag. At just over $5,400, this travel-inspired fireplace is a bit out of my reach. Perhaps we're on the brink of another suitcase-inspired DIY?

After all, everyone loves playing with fire, right?

*Atria may or may not have pyromaniac tendencies.
