Oh boy do we have a drool-worthy abode for you today. When I saw this one, my mouth dropped wide open, only to later say "I want to live there!" I bet you will too.

Designed by Stanley Saitowitz of Natoma Architects, this amazing home also functions as a bridge. It's located in Marin, California on 15 acres of wooded land. Stretched over a ravine, the home spans about twenty-two feet in length. The house is two stories, and its levels are flip-flopped so that the living spaces are above the bedrooms to allow for walls of glass and beautiful views. And as if that isn't enough, a pool runs perpendicular to the house, and a stairway leads up to the open entryway.

I was reading comments about this house over on ArchDaily and someone mentioned that it looks like a criminal mastermind would live in this house. I totally agree. It's like a secret lair where plans are hatched! It kind of reminds me of a larger, more expensive version of that little lake cabin we featured a while back: remote, surrounded by nature, relaxing but on a higher scale.

I wonder if the owners have ever caught hikers using its roof as a means of getting across the ravine?

Hello and good morning, noon, or evening. My name is Joanne and I
truly would love to live in this house. The reason is simple it's okay to be different.

Good morning etc. to you as well. I must say that I only hope the people that live in this building have more character than the house displays, which I'm sure they do. It would appear to be more accurately described as an elevated breezeway. It probably has more character inside but if so, it is well disguised from without. It looks more like a clinic in an office park. I guess we sometimes need to remind ourselves or each other, that we are all already different. We don't have to make statements at the expense of our sensibilities. The other downside is that the house does nothing to enhance its beautiful surroundings. If anything, it takes away. The bridge concept is a great idea but they could at least incorporate some beauty into the exterior design. Try incorporating some curved archways for example. This type of design often reveals much about its inhabitants in as much as it is a close parallel to many apartment dwellers that spend more time looking at the outside world as opposed to being part of it. The institutionalized theme seldom exudes beauty. Remember, this is supposed to be a HOME, not an office building. If you want an attractive home and a place that will bring you contentment, design it's exterior by following natures lead in your surroundings. Now go and find that special piece of Earth for your dream home. Thanks, JPH

    Outstanding!

Is there a source for obtaining the plans? or other plans for houses over creeks and flood plains?

I like something different, not the same old, same old and you sure can say that about this house. I think it deserves an "A" for creativity.
