If the Plaza Hotel's most famous child-in-residence, Eloise, could have had her pick of interior designers, I'd hedge my bets that Betsey Johnson would be at the top of the list. After all, Eloise, at six years old, pretty much shares Johnson's feminine and whimsical fashion sense (maybe minus the 80s club-kid vibe).

Yesterday, Johnson announced plans that she will being doing just that. Reportedly, the fashion designer plans to decorate a two-room Eloise suite at the iconic New York hotel in her label's signature pink and black in tribute to Kay Thompson's fictional creation. Come to think of it, the color scheme isn't so far off from Thompson's pink striped Eloise book covers.

And maybe Johnson will be soaking in the inspiration at her spring/summer 2010 fashion show, which is due to take place today at the hotel's famed Palm Court, the site of many an Eloise escapade. What a better place to begin?
