Martha Stewart and Home Depot get together to make some products!. Photo: Martha Stewart
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with The Home Depot, the largest home improvement retailer in the world," said Martha Stewart, in a statement. "Martha Stewart products have always been stylish and distinctive, with a consistently high level of quality. Partnering with The Home Depot allows us to offer a wider audience the product and 'how-to' information they need to complete all of their home improvement projects." We love it when Martha teases us with promises of 'how-to' information -- this could be something exciting!
However, the particular mix of goods, coupled with Home Depot's self-described "commitment to value and everyday low price" made us wonder what this means for some of Martha's other brand extensions. In particular, we asked ourselves what will happen to her partnerships with Kmart (Martha Stewart Everyday) and Home Depot's main competitor, Lowe's (Martha Stewart Colors at Lowe's). Even a multi-tasker like Martha must have a limit to the number of projects she can sustain at one time. The release also mentions her Macy's line specifically, but then refers to "other retailers," which seems like a bad sign for the Everyday line.
We're excited about this new line and we're crossing our fingers that Martha will stay in all of her retail outlets, so we really can find her everywhere!

Didn't Martha do enough when she destroyed K-Mart. Bye Bye Home Depot. Martha's junk is just that junk. Poor quality over priced junk. I'll take my money elsewhere.
Replyshe is a pig!
Replygoodbye home depot!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Won't buy her stuff at Home Depot, either. Can't stand her. Couldn't stand her BEFORE she became a criminal.
ReplyThere goes Home Depot. I will never shop there again!
ReplySHE MUST NEED THE MONEY $$
ReplyOh no! Not another stupid deal with Martha Stewart! She's not that great! When will people get that?!?!!?
ReplyI used to love Home Depot, but not anymore. MS ruined KMart and now she'll do it to HD. Guess I just became a Lowe's customer!!
Bad, Home Depot! BAD! BAD!
Me thinks Barfa Stewart should go back to camp cupcake.
ReplyI like Martha Stewart stuff. Its simple and pleasant to the eye. I likes watching her old show because it suggested that you didnt need alot of money to make things look elegant. I would take a second look at Home Depot just because I like Marthas products.
ReplyI would be happy about Martha's new line, but, not at Home Depot. Home Depot sponsors Toyota in NASCAR. For this reason, I now drive by Home Depot to go to Lowes, who supports Chevy. Whether you're a NASCAR fan or not, let's support AMERICA. And don't be fooled.....Toyota is a Japanese company.
ReplyMartha Stewart did not ruin Kmart. They were horrible long before she went there.Kmart is a step below Walmart! It's always dirty, poorly stocked, poorly organized and just a complete mess. I had forgotten how much I hated going there until we moved to a small town and it is the only store here! Now, I go out of my way to go anywhere else but Kmart!
ReplyMartha is already exclusively at Lowe's with her paint line. However, Lowe's just pulled all her magazines & books when the Home Depot announcement was made. Lowe's and Home Depot are fierce competitors. What will happen next?
