Although Fabiano Tadiotto's main job is web-designer and character designer, sometimes he takes his creativity beyond his day job to make art, illustrations and even painted furniture! The original painted dresser idea came from his girlfriend who "commissioned" the work from him. She wanted the dresser to be more her style and reflect her tastes.

Her two requests: She wanted to incorporate a graphic inspired by Indian and African arts that included an elephant.

Find out how easy this was to do below!

Fabiano created the potential designs by coming up with a few stencil options. Since he's a designer, it was pretty easy for him to come up with custom options. He then mocked them all up in a computer program so that his girlfriend could make the decision more easily. She decided on a lovely graphic the included an elephant, a heart and some swirly designs.

Fabiano completed painting the dresser using stencils with acrylic paint. Some of the paint is metallic, which he chose to obtain some depth through light reflection. What a transformation! It looks like an expensive antique.

Just plain GAWDY - cannot believe this was done to a gorgeous piece of furnitue that just needed some nice new pulls. Don't get me wrong, however, I am a SERIOUS animal lover. I am also an HGTV addict and it never ceases to amaze me with what some of the designers do to update a piece - I would not pay him/her for doing that to a piece of furniture I owned. Candice Olsen (Divine Design) is very good, even though she can miss the marked on occasion, but can we get her to stop with all the lights. It is quite obvious she does not understand energy conservation. Anyway someone will now have a labor-intensive job of stripping that piece of furniture back to its original beauty....bummmer!
