We've all seen chalkboard paint being used on
refrigerators,
walls and even recently an
entire table. However, I thought I'd go out into the blogosphere to see if I could fine some unique uses for chalkboard paint. Being a
design blogger, you see a
lot of things -- strange things -- but I found some really cool new uses that you may want to try out.

1. Sneakers! I just love this idea. Nothing says fun for kids better than a chalkboard painted shoe! You could put a name on them, mark them "left" and "right" or let the little ones practice spelling their name right on their shoes! I suppose for teenagers, the possibilities get even more creative...
2. Potted Plants. I don't know about you but I don't know a plant from an herb, so I certainly don't know parsley from basil. But, if I had some chalkboard paint I could easily label some terracotta pots, like
Maisie and More did. Then, if I plant different herbs next year, just erase and reuse!

3. Dresser Drawers. You'll always know what's inside when you use chalkboard paint to cover your drawer fronts, just like
Living Etc. shows us. Just remove drawers and cover the fronts and knobs with chalkboard paint, let dry, and then reinsert into the unit. If you want, you can also coat the outside of the chest with paint to match. Then, label each drawer with its contents and never search for anything again!
4. Napkin Rings. Add a side of fun to dinner by making your very own napkin rings, just like the ones
above. Just purchase some inexpensive ones, paint, and serve!
5. A car?! And finally, for inspiration sake, here's an idea: paint your car. This is probably not for everyone, in fact, not for most, but a fun idea nonetheless. Imagine having a clean slate every time it rains!
Now, if that's not enough inspiration for you, why not have a hand at making your very own chalkboard paint? Here's a great
how-to from Apartment Therapy.

chalkboard paint?? im pretty sure its just chalk??
ReplyThe black chalk board background is the paint, silly. The white writing is in fact "just chalk"
ReplyMy friend painted stripes of chalkboard paint on wine glasses, so everyone at parties could personalize their glass & not get it mixed up.
ReplyI tried but the paint will scrap off the glass - do you prep the glass with anything first?
