Sure enough, when I went to Adler's site, there was a tab to 'Design Your Own...' When I called over to JA's office to find out more, a representative confirmed that the service had recently launched and that they have had "a fabulous response."
According to the company's website, their software allows you to customize pillows and rugs which are them hand-loomed to your specifications by artisans in Peru. The text on the site commands you to "unleash your inner Adler and create a masterpiece." While I am not in the market for either a pillow or a rug at this time, I "unleashed my inner Adler" and had tons of fun playing with the design tool on the site.

Rugs are offered in a standard array of sizes from 4' x 6' to 9' x 12', and all of them of are made from hand-loomed wool. In addition to rectangular rugs, you can also get a hide-shaped carpet in one of three patterns (zebra, houndstooth or Union Jack). I must admit, I found myself intrigued by the concept of a red on pink flag-patterned, zebra-shaped rug, but only for a moment.
We're thrilled to see Jonathan Adler offering this level of customization, and we hope to see other brands following in his footsteps. Want more home décor news? Check out these posts:
