A Cozy Castle in California

I'm up to my old tricks again, e-decorating houses I can't afford and giving my seasonally-depressed self one more thing to wish for (please, just one more summer weekend?!). Of course, my dream home would be located in one of the sunniest areas of the U.S. as I'm dragging my heels to welcome in the fall season this year.

Let's get started, shall we? Take a look at this gorgeous 10,600 square foot home, located in a lush, green setting in Atherton, California. Everyone knows a castle needs a cozy hideaway for these cool autumn nights, so today I'll be re-creating a cabin-inspired nook next to the existing wine cellar.


I'd start with the Camden chair from Jayson Home & Garden to kick off this global retreat. Upholstered with an antique rug and leather, the Camden would look smashing beneath this beacon light from Anthropologie. Can you smell the firewood yet?

Of course, to spice things up a tad, I'd throw in (literally!) an unexpected throw blanket with a plaid, woven pattern that will freshen up the antique aesthetic. And with this leather rug from Zara Home, our look is complete.

Lovely, right? Perhaps I'll be re-thinking my aversion to autumn this year...
