santa barbara livingPhoto: Santa Barbara Living

The obvious draw to this room from Diane Dorrans Saeks' book, Santa Barbara Living is the seaside nautical theme. However, there is one other aspect I find compelling in this living room, which is the combination of texture – caning, wood and sea life. Texture is like 3-D, and will always breathe new life into any space. I found a fabulous rattan woven chair, which is a versatile texture on a timeless wing chair shape. When accessorizing for a seaside theme, blue and white stripe or ticking seem to be the natural way to go. Maybe nautical doesn't always have to be sand-in-the-toes casual. Consider lux-ing it up with a black and white zig-zag sequined throw pillow. It is sure to be a conversation starter. Check out the other looks for less!
