5 Dreamy Upholstered Headboards You Can Make Yourself

Fancy, expensive headboards are a thing of the past with dozens of DIY designs popping up all over the webosphere. And although I admit I'm not the most skilled seamstress, these upholstered beauties seem easy enough that even I can't screw them up! Here's to hoping (and dreaming)...
This handy ReadyMade tutorial is one of my favorites, as I'm an avid read-in-bed kinda gal. There's nothing comfortable about stacking a few pillows against a hard, upright headboard, so this design is perfect for me. And with just a few tools, the process couldn't be easier!

Want something a tad cheaper and a quicker project? Try this great idea from Apartment Therapy which requires a bit of junk shopping and a very small budget. Simply gather a few materials (foam rubber, wood, a staple gun and brackets) and set aside a few hours. You'll love the result!

Has your daughter been craving a more high-maintenance look? Turn an average headboard into a canopy-inspired draped work of art in a snap with this tutorial from CraftisCool. This design requires a bit of construction know-how, but the directions are fairly in-depth to avoid problem areas.

Nothing pulls together a room in a more classic way than a traditional, tufted headboard. Here's an easy DIY version from Living the Swell Life. This aesthetic works well in a clean, modern setting and I love the fabric she's chosen. Bonus? The project took Jessica just one hour and less than $50!

For a funkier take on the former tufted look, try BHG's tutorial for a tufted paisley headboard. This design works great if you enjoy bold focal points full of pattern and color. The paisley keeps the design from looking too stuffy or formal, and adds scale to a smaller bed.
