Paper chains made from construction and scrapbook paper. Photo: Laura Fenton

Simple, paper chains are a foolproof project that even the least crafty gal could make -- It's also a great afternoon activity to do with a child. To jazz up the usual colored chains for Halloween, I mixed patterned paper in with solid construction paper.

My paper chains are made from strips of paper 1-inch wide by 6-inches long (which means I got 24 chain links out of one 12" x 12" size piece of scrapbook paper). To make your own, first, cut out your strips. Then, for a picture-perfect look, use double stick tape to secure the loops, or for the quickest method, use a stapler.

Drape your chains along the edge of a bookcase like I did here or hang them above a table for a Halloween fête!

I looked high and low for a festive and tasteful Halloween scrapbook paper. Martha Stewart's were my favorite, hands-down. The cute 'BOO!' print for this project came out of the The Martha Stewart Crafts Classic Halloween paper pad (available at Michael's stores), which has multiple prints in one pad -- perfect for all of your crafting needs.
