Rupert Grint is no Harry Potter, but he might just be the wizard of real estate. The 21-year-old, who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter flicks, has racked up quite an impressive property investment portfolio. According to The Daily Mail, Grint owns £9.2 million (over $14 million) worth of property mortgage-free! Grint's co-star, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), has property worth an estimated £7 million, and co-star Emma Watson (Hermione) has property worth £4 million. It's nice to see younger actors planning and investing wisely in their future. Let's face it -- who knows how long Rupert can ride the Harry Potter gravy train?

So how did he spend his £9.2 million? Grint purchased a 22-acre 18th-century Hertfordshire manor house for £5.4 million in September. The home features two cottages and six bedroom suites. He can definitely throw some killer parties in this house!

Previously, Grint was living with his family (parents, brother and three sisters) in another home in Hertfordshire, which Grint also owns. He purchased the house back in 2006 for £3.35 million. Grint bought another detached home with his father in April 2008 and received a permit for expansion.

Grint isn't the only one in the family in the real estate game. His parents also own a few large properties. In June 2003 they purchased a £975,000 house and in the same year bought a farmhouse nearby for £2 million.

Now what i dont understand is...how is it that my husband is overseas defending freedom in Iraq and we have a hard time paying bills on time.. but actors and actresses get paid millions and millions of dollars??? I dont look down on actors but i just dont understand why it isnt switched around!

I appreciate the efforts of your husband in Iraq and I agree that our men and women should be fairly compensated. But the fact that actors get paid more is a matter of business and economics.
We can's pay the thousands of Military men and women millions of dollars each cause that would be impossible. It's just a fact. I do believe they can be compensated better.

Actors get paid millions because it's a business. Let's say that 35 million people go see one movie each paying 10 dollars. That amounts to 350 million dollars which is then spread out to a very small pool of people. If the actor doesn't get a large chunk then the producer, director, or studio would get a bigger share. Why not spread it evenly.

If ran your own business and you had a million customers you would make more money than if you had only 5. It's simple logic.

Smart actors are also entrepreneurs. I would bet that if anyone on here were making millions they wouldn't give it up.

No one understands that. There are many professions that don't get paid what they are worth. I would think as an adult you would know that by now. The reason actors get so much money is because the bring in so much money. Look at sports players, heads of organizations ect. Life is not fair and it certainly isn't fair to our soldiers that are fighting for our freedom. Them fighting gives us the right to put up on a website (for example) what we think without the fear of government retaliation. God Bless you and your family and thanks so much for fighting for our freedom.

This is not intelligent investment. Those kinds of property bring in no income, and require large continuing expenses for upkeep. He should have bought some rental property, apartment buildings, commercial buildings, etc.

"Now what i dont understand is...how is it that my husband is overseas defending freedom in Iraq and we have a hard time paying bills on time.. but actors and actresses get paid millions and millions of dollars???"

And if we can send a man to the moon, why can't we ...? Boo hoo, Stephanie. Take your off-topic rants elsewhere.

I think he has been extremely wise with his money. Property is something that just goes up in value, unless they find out it is sitting on a nuclear site. Atleast, he's not spending it on cars, boats, expensive holidays and drugs. He's very smart and obviously not selfish. Sour grapes are the one's who resent him. People don't realize what alot of child actors give up. yes, he is lucky to some degree but he worked for it and it's not all fun and games.

"what are your specific examples and reasoning for concluding that the Harry Potter films (and I am guessing books as well) are a crash course on the occult?"

Have you ever seen or read the series? It takes place at a school of witchcraft, where sorcery and the casting of spells are taught to the students. The books of the bible are full of specific instructions on these very topics. You might find it helpful to actually read some of these books if you truly want to know.

I think actors are OVER PAID......bottom line! Please read on!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't understand, if they are being paid this much then they should ALL have to contribute to the world and charities in the world, cancer, hunger, animal rescues, MS,Alzheimer, Parkinson's Disease, damn their are SO MANY EXCELLENT CAUSES to donate to for CURES!

Bottom Line, is IF they would all contribute then the WHOLE WORLD would be in a better place. I bet majority of you reading my post have had family members Mothers, Fathers, Husbands, wives, kids, brothers and sisters die of some of the above diseases (that you can't argue with) As this is FACT!

People PAY to get into these movies, and this is what makes these actors have such enormous salaries (therefore these ACTORS should give back to the world and NOT FLAUNT their riches.

I am sure that some of you reading remember sitting through a movie with someone you loved who is NO LONGER here in this world because of a death of a disease. Remember this the next time you think it's COOL to have them be paid this much and NOT give back to the world and it's short funds for cures. I believe that cures would have already been made (if) these actors contributed.
Who needs 10 homes, the world could use HELP the people and the animals.

How is this a property investment portfolio? None of these places are rented out or anything. His parents live in one, he lives in one and he has a vacation home. Why doesn't he buy a condo or something and rent it out if he wants to *invest*?

You don't get too much richer quick by buying 3 different multimillion dollar houses and sitting on them. Sitting on a house is wasteful. And if he did decide to rent it out, he wouldn't be able to more than likely because multimillion dollar houses are a huge, huge effort to rent out. I guess the money could be spent worse ways, but if he were smarter about it, he would purchase a few apartment buildings and rent them out, collect half a million dollars per year as well as equity instead of buying three unrentable pieces of property and sitting on them.

Exactly how much is it worth to YOU to lose your anonimity and privacy for the rest of your life? To be followed, spied upon and photographed constantly. It's a high price they pay to give us the movies and shows we all crave and love.

Bottom Line! You can't make people be more than they are. Who are you to insist they give to your causes? They make their money and can do with it what they want to. Just the same as you. If you want to give your hard earned money to the "cause" More power to you!!!!!
You are a good person. You don't know what other causes he is giving his money to. Don't judge people so harshly.

Thank you zoe for mentioning that child actors give up so much.
Especially in this case. These people have been playing these characters since my kids were in elementary school. They are both in college now. These people have worked and traveled and signed autographs and been scrutinized by not only fans but jerks who attack them personally for what they wear, buy, ect. I think the man has worked hard for his money, mostly given up a regular childhood. I am sure he is thankful for what he has gotten to accomplish but still, he deserves to live in peace and enjoy his hard earned money. He is hurting no one and is setting a great example for others.
