Smallest House on Wheels
Washington State resident Paul Elkins designed this 100-lb. home on wheels to attach to the back of his bicycle for the annual Burning Man event in Nevada. He claims that it's perfectly livable--he stayed in it for a week during the festival. Also at the back of his mind: the apocalypse. In the event of a worldwide pandemic, for example, this is a way to survive, he says.
It may look like a box, but it's literally a trailer home. Seen here is the single bed. The bottle is a mister to keep the resident cool and the bundle on the left is a clothes hamper.
The kitchen, err, hot plate. The home also has a urinal, but not a full toilet.
There's no need for a skylight with a protruding observation bubble. This wall also opens completely to let in fresh air.
A wind turbine powers the user's gadgets while a solar power system heats the stove and water. A window box for flowers and some outdoor decor make it more homey.
