The Goods
Silhouettes, we've seen 'em. But I literally did a double take when passing by Christopher Jagmin's booth at the New York International Gift Fair last month. Jagmin's hand-decorated plates, glasses and platters all feature bold black and white designs, from signature silhouettes to floral motifs, names and numbers. But it's what lies underneath that caught my eye.
The Secret
Many of Christopher's designs are fired onto what he calls "orphaned" items. These are one-of-a-kind pieces that he finds at thrift stores and the like and then uses as backdrops for stylized silhouettes, pop sayings (like his "Yeah" plates) and even 22K gold patterns.
Things to know
Jagmin has dozens of ready-made wares to choose from, but he also does custom silhouettes and wording like the ones he made for a wedding (below right). Gorgeous.
