Everything's bigger in Texas, including my love for this Dallas mansion. Of course, this week, I'm diving straight into my decorating resources for an e-makeover you won't believe!

I love the light, bright and airy rooms of this Dallas beauty, but the black modern furniture is much too masculine and heavy for the space. I'd like to focus on the formal living room to bring back some light into the home.

First of all, that furniture has got to go. Once the flooring is clear, I'd remove the patterned tile and switch it out for a dark, luxurious hardwood floor to ground our new all-white palette. The canned lighting can stay, but I'd replace the Mediterranean ceiling fan with a more modern and minimalist pendant like this custom white scalloped chandelier from Pieces.

Next, let's talk seating. A couch is too large in scale for this parlor, so I'd incorporate a few modern chairs like the Knoll SM2 Lounge. For some texture, I'd add this cream hide stool, along with a large flokati rug. And of course, the finishing touch would be this lovely flea market side table from Anthropologie.

Lastly, add a few choice accessories in keeping with the color palette and you've got yourself a lovely, bright parlor that will leave your guests wanting more. Forget bigger --- everything's brighter in Texas!

I visited Plano, Texas long ago on a warm July day. I was so surprised to see a woman wearing a long mink coat in the shopping mall.. I also noticed very large houses that were so close together you could share phones..... AND what about the execution rates? Totally disgraceful.
