As a design blogger, I so often come across products that reallly make me wonder about the functionality of the item. Such is this: A shoelace rug aptly described as "a sculpture that evolves beneath your feet." I'd imagine I'd call it something different the instant I misplace a paperclip among the mess, but I have to admit -- it's creative.

A collaboration between designers Nate Silverstein and Andrea Paustenbaugh, the rugs weigh in between $250 and $500, depending on size. I really love the black and white design, and the machine-washable factor? Perfect.

If you're not into the long, shaggy look, you could always tie a few knots into each shoelace to calm the crazy.

After all, if the shoe(lace) fits...
