Turns out that we know Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe's next role: real estate tycoon. He recently bought a $5.65 million home on West 12th Street in Manhattan's West Village, according to Curbed. He and his mother already own two slick condos purchased at $4.3 million a piece -- one at 40 Mercer in Soho, the other at 1 Morton Square in the West Village. Maybe Radcliffe, hoping to perform some real estate magic, plans on flipping the modern properties while making the townhouse home. Either way he's waving his wizard wand all over New York City, building a portfolio of properties for the future -- just like his co-star Rupert Grint.

His new townhome seems suitable for a wizard: It was built by a sea captain in 1847 for his three daughters. Tucked away on a tree-lined cobblestone street, the home features a small one-bedroom apartment on the ground floor that includes a wood-burning fireplace. On the second through fourth floors, the main residence includes four bedrooms and three baths, six fireplaces and a lovely balcony that overlooks the large garden. Ah, Radcliffe. This house casts a spell. I wonder if he's renting out that ground floor apartment...

Harry Potters House!

Daniel Radcliffe is moving! The Harry Potter star's new brick-front row home is located on a historic tree-lined cobblestone street in Manhattan's West Village. It cost $5.65 million. Bargain? Perhaps, since it's quite a stunner. The 3,000-square-foot has a one-bedroom apartment on the first floor with a four-bedroom home on top. It is located near lots of shops and close to the popular meatpacking district.

The home features a total of 6 fireplaces on floors two through four and one in the first floor apartment. The tall windows let in droves of light.

The boat-like bar and bar stools are reminiscent of the home's first owner and builder. These historic details would definitely be something that would sell me immediately.

Antique details such as the light fixtures, large carved mirror and tall baseboards add to the historic charm of this home. I just love the wall of windows -- what a lovely place to enjoy your morning coffee.

The stairwell features a curved banister and moldings, echoing the quality craftsmanship of days past. Exposed brick isn't for everyone, but it really helps make this home feel authentic.

The carved mantelpiece with mirror is an absolutely stunning piece of character that I hope remains in the home after the star moves in.

If you could imagine the bedroom of the daughter of a sea captain in 1847, wouldn't you picture it just like this?

The built-in storage above the windows is the perfect place to store old books and memoirs, perhaps souvenirs from the Harry Potter movie set?

The backyard features a lovely English-style garden complete with wrought iron patio set. Radcliffe should feel right at home! Ah, to have this much outdoor space in New York City...

The upper balcony overlooks the beautiful garden and patio. I stand corrected -- this is the best place in the home for morning coffee!

CAN TELL YOU LIVE IN GOOBER LAND....EVER PRICE NY REAL ESTATE LOL

  • MICHAEL A

boy, did the boy wonder get robbed! I'd surely fire the person that told him this was a great deal. For 5 million you can buy a hell of a lot of property somewhere else! Hope the real estate guru's are on his appreciation side!

  • Mike

Only in New York could you buy a brownstone row house that'd cost you millions and have it be considered a "stunner".

But I must admit, it is cute. I bet he bought so he could say "I have a little place in the big city".

  • Brittany

Maybe it's expensive (but compared to what he's worth, it's a minimal amount of money to spend), but I think it's a much more beautiful and tasteful place to live than somewhere in L.A, where everything is just so tacky and unnecessary. At least he's living in style! I would LOVE to be in a place like that, and have you SEEN that area of the village? When I'm around there, I become so envious of the people who live there. Good for him! He could choose anywhere in the world to live...obviously New York is one of the cool places to be. Plus, who wants to live in the middle of no where and have a huge house and a lot of land?

maybe he will rent the apartment out, i would rent it from him ,but he probably wont ,he dosn't need the money

$5.6 million for that !!!? What in the hell was he thinking ?? But, If it makes him happy, I guess that's all that matters.

Here is cost breakdown : actual cost is $500,000; money paid to media to make the house priced in the millions is $500,000. There's got to be a typo error in "3000" square feet. Maybe it should have read "8000" square feet to be worth millions.

You're forgetting one crucial detail: He bought this in New York city, one of the most expensive places on Earth, he should just be glad he didn't have to pay more.

  • jess

Who cares! People's homes are foreclosing and they are writing about a celebrity who bought a 5.6 million dollar home?!

I think it's adorable and modest - I hope he keeps it that way. And it's fairly cheap for a nice home in NYC. Depending on the part of town, a one bedroom apartment could be $15,000 a month. Three bedrooms in TriBeCa = $3,600,000.

THE BEST PART IS OPENING UP THE FRONT DOOR AND VOILA: THERE'S NEW YORK CITY.... AND IF YOU LIKE CITY LIVING, THIS HOUSE IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. GOOD BUY.

Don't believe the back story one bit...this is a row of speculation housing....built as a row, all at one time, by an investor. Thats not to say the descendants of some ship's captian didn't live here at one time...they just didn't build it in some fantasy tale. Sorry Dan, you're cute and all, but don't believe every crack-pot tale some real estate agent feeds you.

Also, the interiors have been gutted...don't think there's a scrap of the original interior left. Dan, I hope you like color, cause the white on white thing is really dated.

  • tioga

Did you even look at the pictures?
It's not gutted, its completly finished.
Where do you come up with this crap?

  • bebee

he really got a great price from my understanding. i am a realtor in south carolina and when i sell ppl from ny a home here for 150,000.00 and it is really nice. they are very happy because they are telling me that 1000 sq ft 65,000.00 home here is worth 350,000.00 in ny and nj.this being a simple home at that that would cost them a quater of a mil. i know it seems expensive but his was agreat buy to because of location. in a normal , market not like th market is right now , this home would have gone for a lot more money

  • ashley

its nice. and the outside looks like the Order Of the Pheonix HQ, lol.

He moved right into where alot of Gay Guys live. But I wouldn't kick him out of bed.

Don't you know gays raise property value? They add diversity and culture, bring in gourmet restaurants, festivals, arts... Gay neighborhoods are usually the most expensive and supposedly amongst the best places to live.
