Turns out that we know Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe's next role: real estate tycoon. He recently bought a $5.65 million home on West 12th Street in Manhattan's West Village, according to Curbed. He and his mother already own two slick condos purchased at $4.3 million a piece -- one at 40 Mercer in Soho, the other at 1 Morton Square in the West Village. Maybe Radcliffe, hoping to perform some real estate magic, plans on flipping the modern properties while making the townhouse home. Either way he's waving his wizard wand all over New York City, building a portfolio of properties for the future -- just like his co-star Rupert Grint.
His new townhome seems suitable for a wizard: It was built by a sea captain in 1847 for his three daughters. Tucked away on a tree-lined cobblestone street, the home features a small one-bedroom apartment on the ground floor that includes a wood-burning fireplace. On the second through fourth floors, the main residence includes four bedrooms and three baths, six fireplaces and a lovely balcony that overlooks the large garden. Ah, Radcliffe. This house casts a spell. I wonder if he's renting out that ground floor apartment...

Harry Potters House!
Daniel Radcliffe is moving! The Harry Potter star's new brick-front row home is located on a historic tree-lined cobblestone street in Manhattan's West Village. It cost $5.65 million. Bargain? Perhaps, since it's quite a stunner. The 3,000-square-foot has a one-bedroom apartment on the first floor with a four-bedroom home on top. It is located near lots of shops and close to the popular meatpacking district.
The home features a total of 6 fireplaces on floors two through four and one in the first floor apartment. The tall windows let in droves of light.
The boat-like bar and bar stools are reminiscent of the home's first owner and builder. These historic details would definitely be something that would sell me immediately.
Antique details such as the light fixtures, large carved mirror and tall baseboards add to the historic charm of this home. I just love the wall of windows -- what a lovely place to enjoy your morning coffee.
The stairwell features a curved banister and moldings, echoing the quality craftsmanship of days past. Exposed brick isn't for everyone, but it really helps make this home feel authentic.
The carved mantelpiece with mirror is an absolutely stunning piece of character that I hope remains in the home after the star moves in.
If you could imagine the bedroom of the daughter of a sea captain in 1847, wouldn't you picture it just like this?
The built-in storage above the windows is the perfect place to store old books and memoirs, perhaps souvenirs from the Harry Potter movie set?
The backyard features a lovely English-style garden complete with wrought iron patio set. Radcliffe should feel right at home! Ah, to have this much outdoor space in New York City...
The upper balcony overlooks the beautiful garden and patio. I stand corrected -- this is the best place in the home for morning coffee!

I see what you did thar!
Eh, I've seen nicer houses than that.
Replybully for you!!!
Is it just me or does anyone else think it's extremely creepy that the entire floorplan is posted? Nobody out there needs to know the details to that degree of what the house looks like, just the pictures would have done the job.
ReplyI was thinking the same thing...LOL! Hopefully, no stalkers or burglars are viewing these floor plans.
yankee i agree..they went a little to far with posting the floor plan. someone is not protecting his best interest here.i would never let that happen
Are those burglar bars?
ReplyYou idiots you dont understand a 2 bedroom apartment in NY is 6000 dollars a month!
ReplyIf it makes him happy he worked for it, I am happy for him.Its not a place i would live in but everyone has their own taste.
ReplyHis house is really ugly and I do understand why it was so expensive because living in New York isn't cheap. I still wouldn't pay more then $4 for his ugly house, though!
ReplyWhat was wrong with London? When I first read the title of this article, I thought it meant "West Village, London", not "West Village, Manhattan, New York City, USA." Wasn't Radcliffe at all happy in London?
Replysee, I'd imagine he wants a house in the city like that.
ReplyI mean, I don't think he'd want a sprawling mansion in Cali, or that he even spends much time stateside anywhere other than new york, due to the nature of his career.
I don't like the house at all. Well I liked the bar stools but that was it. It just wasn't my thing. But he loves it and it's his money so good for him. I would have bought some water property in Hawaii myself. At least he's spending his money wisely not unlike Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears.
Replyniiiice
Replyi definatly like this townhouse, especially how everything is set up and the furniture. 5.6 million dollars is a lot of money for a place in NYC but if i had tht kind of money, that house would make me happy, its really cute. actually, the price couldve been more considering its NYC, townhouses in like pensylvania would be cheaper. as long as he's happy... =]
ReplyDid you not read that he wants to live in the house and then flip it?
ReplyHe will probably get even more for the house because HE lived in it.
It is a lovely home and it has a fabulous garden. I don't care if he is gay or not. I don't want to date him. I think he is a good actor with a great future but it seems like he might be looking to do some real estate business and maybe take some time off. Oh and about the cost, New York is amazingly expensive. Not tons of people can afford to buy a home there. If you rent an apartment....it is usually quite small. It seems that the U.S. is quite popular with the H.P.
crowd. We love having them for sure!!!
hey he's got a house it's a pretty nice one too for his age
Replywhat a dumb ass who dont know how to spend his money worth while.
ReplyI really hope he would make it back with that over paid investment.
I think the house is lovely! I couldn't afford it but it is homey and beautiful. I could live very comfortably there. It is very old style but I like that. Of course there are nicer houses than this but sometimes a brand new house isn't for you. I think this looks quite
ReplyEnglish and probably more what he is accustom to. My Grandmother used ot say ( God rest her soul), If everyone liked the same thing that there wouldn't be enough to go around and life would be very boring!
