Window treatments always catch my eye whenever I check out a lovely home makeover. It's amazing how a single pair of drapes can instantly take an atmosphere down to the depths of bad decor. Ready for your crash course on window treatments? Follow along, and take notes -- you'll thank me later!
Blinds: Use blinds in a setting where budget comes first, such as a sun room or an office where textiles and fabrics aren't as necessary as function.
Drapes: Drapes come in a variety of textures and styles, depending on your taste. For a more formal look, add a valance or box pleats.
Curtains: Gauzy curtains work well when paired with black-out panels or formal drapes. A fun, patterned curtain can also brighten up a space in need of texture. Try curtains in a child's bedroom or living room.
Panels: Panels are often defined by size, and come in a variety of shapes, perfect for nontraditional windows. Panels work well with french doors, screened areas and half-windows in bathrooms or kitchens.
Shutters: Shutters are sometimes more pricey than blinds, but work well in a modern setting and tend to let more light in than a traditional blind. Shutters work best in kitchens, dining room and living areas.
