Let the spiders run amok on your table with a Spider Web Runner. I saw one at Crate & Barrel and was inspired by the lacey, yet goose-bump evoking topper. Then I thought, how easy that would be to make? So, instead of buying it, I set off to make it myself.

With black felt in hand, I was armed and ready, and you can be too. First, I cut a 18" by 72" piece of black felt. With a chalk marker, I measured off a one inch border around the perimeter. Don't worry about the chalk marks, this will be the "wrong" side. Using a ruler and the chalk, I crisscrossed the lines to create a "snowflake" shape. Make the lines fill the space up to 18" in length. Start the first web to the bottom edge and the next one to the top edge, leaving about 18" between each. This makes the pattern more diverse.

Next, I connected the radiating lines together with "u" shaped markings. With that finished, I blocked out the lines to make them wider for cutting (see above). With small sharp scissors, I cut along ALL the marked lines. I have to admit that while I loved the finished product, I did find this task a bit tedious.

I do love the runner. It looks great with a collection of pumpkins and some candles. In the end it was well worth the work.
