Barbra Streisand Raises a Half-Million Selling Her Old Stuff

The singer's recent auction of more than 500 personal items at Julien's Auctions raised just over $573k for the Streisand Foundation, a nonprofit that supports environmental and women's health programs. The items varied from a group of three sets of brass andirons that went for $125 to one of Barbra's concert gowns fetching $13,000. Wait, $13,000. Really? Barbra Streisand Auction Update

    Barbra Streisand raised $573,000 auctioning off her antiques and collectibles last weekend. The design-loving diva, who is passionate about home decor and lives in Malibu (sigh), is donating the proceeds to the Streisand Foundation, which supports environmental and women's health programs.     Barbra's vintage white wicker furniture, which features a sofa, two rocking armchairs and another armchair, a rectangular coffee table, a pair of round side tables, an oval coffee table and a magazine basket was estimated to go for $1500 to $2500. The 9-piece set fetched $1750.

    Dating to 1972, her Yamaha Baby Grand piano in black lacquer comes with the matching bench and has an estimated value of $8000 to $10,000. The piece went for a whopping $11,250.

    Sip from Barbra's teapot. The modern wedgewood sterling pattern lidded teapot comes with a single cup and saucer as well as a silverplated bud vase. Barbra used the set on stage with Neil Diamond in 2004. The set went for $2000! For a tea set!

    This vintage dental cabinet was one of the first things she bought when she first hit the limelight when she was 18. It was valued at $1000 to $1500, but sold for $8750! Holy mackarel!

    This Dirk Van Erp table lamp has a teardrop-shaped hammered copper base and a four-panel mica lined shade. The lamp was supposed to be valued at $12,000 to $18,000 but someone must have really loved it because it ended up being one of the most successful pieces at the auction, bringing in $30,000!
