WE'RE SORRY, BUT THIS GIVEAWAY IS OVER. CHECK BACK SOON FOR ANOTHER GREAT GIVEAWAY.
You may not be able to convince your spouse and your kids to help with actual home improvement projects, but watch them dive right in to virtual remodeling with the new Wii game "Our House: Party!" We're giving away two copies.
If your crew has had enough of Wii bowling or has developed Wii tennis elbow, give them the chance to sling a hammer, mow the grass and shop at The Home Depot--all with a cute little avatar!
The game, which came out last month, pits you against others in a race to increase the value of your virtual home with do-it-yourself projects. "Bathroom remodel" and "garden renovation" are among the 25 projects, and 175 mini-games include everything from demolition to painting. When you need a new nail gun, it's as easy as heading to a virtual The Home Depot to shop til you drop (just as much fun as the real thing, and it's free). The game is for up to 4 players. With the Wii's Wi-Fi system, players can show off their homes to real life friends who live far away through the virtual neighborhood feature.

CA$H!!! Always seems to work with the kids!
ReplyWe sing the clean-up, clean-up everybody everywhere song and I help too. It works but then again I have a toddler and tweens.

The kids learned early that helping out was expected. My sons are great, my daughter...not so great.
ReplyI do the same thing my Mom did, no calls, no tv, no going out until the chores are done.
I simply tell my son that if I have to help him put away his toys, then I get to keep one. It took one lost pirate ship for him to take me seriously.
ReplyA little green stuff always seems to motivate my family to help with chores. :-)
Replyno games/tv until the chores are done
ReplyUm I am sad to say I have cash hungry kids too
ReplyI promise them a fun day once we got the cleaning out of the way.
ReplyMoney and bribes seem to be very good motivators
ReplyThe only way I can get my kids motivated to help with chores is to tell them they can't hang out with their friends until their chores are done.
ReplySince my kids are little (5 and 3), threatening to take their toys away lights a fire under them. Actually taking them away works even better.
Replyyelling - bellowing seem to work
ReplyWe make it a competition :).
ReplyThis is such a problem around our home. I feel like I'm hitting my head against the wall when it comes to my kids helping out. Bribery seems to be the only thing that gets results.
ReplyThanks so much.
Tips for motivating not-so-motivated family members to help out around the house:
ReplyI set a timer for five minutes and everyone moves like lightning til the house is tidied.
I motivate my family to help clean by refusing to clean anything, after one day everybody starts to pick up after his/her self.
ReplyMy family has learned that there are consequences for their non-action. Thanks!
Replythey have assigned chores every day and they rotate them once a week, its the compatition as to who does the best job in their area that week .works for us.
ReplyA little green stuff motivates my family to help me with chores. :-)
ReplyI have come to the conclusion it's not worth the hassle and just do it myself.
