WE'RE SORRY, BUT THIS GIVEAWAY IS OVER. CHECK BACK SOON FOR ANOTHER GREAT GIVEAWAY.

You may not be able to convince your spouse and your kids to help with actual home improvement projects, but watch them dive right in to virtual remodeling with the new Wii game "Our House: Party!" We're giving away two copies.

If your crew has had enough of Wii bowling or has developed Wii tennis elbow, give them the chance to sling a hammer, mow the grass and shop at The Home Depot--all with a cute little avatar!

The game, which came out last month, pits you against others in a race to increase the value of your virtual home with do-it-yourself projects. "Bathroom remodel" and "garden renovation" are among the 25 projects, and 175 mini-games include everything from demolition to painting. When you need a new nail gun, it's as easy as heading to a virtual The Home Depot to shop til you drop (just as much fun as the real thing, and it's free). The game is for up to 4 players. With the Wii's Wi-Fi system, players can show off their homes to real life friends who live far away through the virtual neighborhood feature.

Bribing with yummy food usually helps.

My wife knows how to motivate ME. And I understand that the XBox360 is a tremendously useful "lever" when it comes time to attempt to pry my teenager off the couch -- he only had to lose it for a day or two before re-evaluating just how to pick his battles. We all have our regular routines, which really helps stay ahead of the tides of cruft which otherwise would build up to where we couldn't even FIND the really important stuff -- like the remote controls and the game controllers.

When it comes to getting my husband out of his chair in front of the computer, I've found that dynamite works wonders. The smell of food cooking works also, but NOTHING seems to work as well as the smell of my citrus bodywash. The kids are easier to work with -- explaining that the power is about to go out for several hours (no tv, no air-conditioner, no video games, etc) accomplishes quite a bit.

Actually, reading the description about "going to a virtual Home Depot and shopping till you drop" seemed to get my husband salivating too -- so I'm hoping for another option to add to my arsenal of motivators, real soon now. Thanks!

My best tip for motivating others to help out around the house is to offer a reward that they truly want, and tell them exactly what to do and when to have it done to get the reward :D

We make cleaning a game. We try to see who finishes a certain task first and give out rewards.

Bribing them with money always seems to work.

Go on vacation! Really! It really works because they learn they have to do things-like shop, clean up the kitchen, cook, do laundry to survive. LOL

Making clean up a group effort sometimes works. The kids usually need a little more incentive though, like a treat if they do a good job of it.

If everyone helps out, then we get to see a movie everyone's been wanting to see or we get to go out to eat somewhere!

    CASH AND PRIVILAGES MOTIVATES

Pure and simple bribery. It always works the best. But you have to make the prize fit the person. Right now the youngest ones all it takes is a trip to the park. The older ones get extra time to play Wii.
