Continuing with our fun flooring facts (say that three times fast!), we've got a new option to unpack: vinyl flooring. Vinyl is a flooring material made up of a mixture of polyvinyl chloride and plasticizers with pigments added in for color. Although there are many advantages to using vinyl, there are a few disadvantages as well. Curious to see how vinyl stands up compared to hardwood floors, laminate floors and ceramic tiles? Read on:
PROS:
1. Design. There are an abundance of vinyl flooring patterns and designs available, so you're bound to find something that fits your home's aesthetic.
2. Cost-effective. Vinyl is incredibly affordable and is one of the more inexpensive flooring options around.
3. Easy to Install. Vinyl flooring is a piece of cake to install, and if you have no handy knowledge whatsoever, it's cheap enough to hire someone else to do for you.
4. Comfort. Because vinyl is similar to a rubber finish, it's more comfortable to walk on vinyl flooring than ceramic tiles or hardwood.
CONS:
1. Durability. Vinyl can curl over time, leaving bumps and holes in the finish. It's less durable than most flooring options and will need to be replaced sooner.
2. Easily fades. When placed in direct sunlight, vinyl flooring can fade, leaving your pattern looking dull and dreary.
