Hot or Not: An Inflatable Chesterfield

People who own an inflatable couch shouldn't throw darts. Better yet, people just shouldn't ever own an inflatable couch. Exhibit A? Blofield Inflatable Chesterfield Sofa.

Created by designer Jeroen van de Kant, the Blofield inflatable Chesterfield is available for purchase at Design Conscious for a whopping $700. Praised for its portability and innovative character, the Blofield recently won the Red Dot Design award for Best Product Design.

OK, here's the deal. I get that it's a Chesterfield, which to me, is a couch that exudes plenty of sophisticated, bookish charm. Yet I have a funny feeling not even the name Chesterfield can turn a blow-up couch into something cultured. Think about it. When is the last time the term "blow-up" was attached to something you would even consider owning in your home? Certainly not a blow-up doll. And an inflatable lamp? No thanks.
