A jack-o-lantern inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas. Photo: Laura Fenton

I'm a huge Tim Burton fan. (Edward Scissorhands is an all-time fave and I am absolutely panting to see his take on Alice in Wonderland in 2010 -- the shots of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter in Vanity Fair earlier this summer were a huge tease!) So, I guess it's no surprise that I was tempted to create a jack-o-lantern ode to one of my favorite films by Mr. Burton.

For this project, I took my inspiration from Jack Skellington, the clay-mation hero of The Nightmare Before Christmas. To create a King of Halloween lookalike, I chose a white pumpkin and created a face design that mimicked the original Jack. You can draw your own Jack Skellington freehand or borrow our downloadable template, just be sure to re-size the image to your pumpkin.

Maybe next year I'll carve Alice in Wonderland-themed pumpkins!
