Are you ready for the holidays yet? Me neither. I haven't even started thinking about drafting a list, buying decorations or gathering recipes. But I do this every year and it always seems to work itself out, even if it means online shopping at 3 a.m. on December 20th. The new West Elm holiday catalog is a simple reminder to get my behind in gear! You can also browse all their holiday decor right here, including the beautiful pieces by David Stark (my fave are the star garlands!).

What I want right now: I just want this entire catalog. Since that's not possible I've narrowed down my picks to two. First, the Organic Pin-tuck Bedding. Since I have a king-sized bed the cost is $119 for a duvet cover and $24 per sham. I don't think that's too bad for a king -- definitely less than I would have guessed for organic cotton. My second must-have is the Faceted Mirror Side Table for $199. It's a great price plus it's totally in style -- mirrors and facets are huge! And even though it's trendy, I think it will stand the test of time.

Favorite piece: Although I would not have expected to like it so much, I am totally digging the Vintage Butterfly bedding (below left). I feel like it's very different than a lot of the bedding that's out there right now.

Best deal: I think West Elm's prices are reasonable overall, but this oversized Woven Pendant (below left) is a great deal at $199. As I mentioned above, I also believe that the organic cotton bedding is very well-priced, even for a king. For some 1970s glam, this Faceted Pendant is a steal at $89.99. And one more -- the Manzanita Candelabra for $99 is just a beautiful centerpiece. It would even look good atop your mantel. It's also neutral enough to keep it out the entire fall and winter seasons since it's not holiday-specific.

Vintage butterflies are an unexpected hit, and textured cozy winter pieces are the big splurge. Photo: West Elm

Biggest splurge: Get out your credit card if you want to purchase one of these Sheepskin Poufs (above right). At $349, they are a little pricey but totally worth the luxury and glam they can bring to your room. Just one more item that I think is splurge-worthy are the Velvet Grommet window panels (above right) at $54 to $69 each. Perfect for wintertime, they absorb lots of light and cold while keeping you cozy inside (and stylish!).

Favorite styled room: My personal favorite room in the catalog happens to be the first room photo that features the Faceted Mirror Side Table. The pops of green and gold along with the silver trees on the stairs brings some glitz to the space.

What we're tired of: Bland and sparse holiday decor. Get festive, West Elm -- I know you can do it!

Greatest gift: The simple, modern and unexpected Snow Globes (above left) are my absolutely favorite. If you know a snow globe collector (and chances are that you do!), you've gotta snatch one of these up. For $30, you can get one for your child's teacher too. Also a contender are these Cast-Metal Animals (above right) for $26 each.
