The 727 Fuselage Suite: Yep, You're Sleeping in an Airplane
Categories: Wish We Could...
In the heart of Costa Rica lies a hotel fit for Amelia Earhart herself. And I'm not talking your average luxury, chocolates-on-the-pillow sort of spot either. Labeled "the most exclusive hotel suite in Costa Rica," the 727 Fuselage Suite is a vintage 1965 Boeing 727 airframe which, in a previous life, shuttled globetrotters to and from South Africa.
The suite has been renovated carefully into a two-bedroom, fully outfitted suite as part of Hotel Costa Verde's new look. With hand-carved, teak wood furnishings imported from Indonesia, no expense has been spared in this crafty refurbish. Guests can relax in their air-conditioned bedrooms, or relax on the seaside balcony which sits atop the Boeing's massive wing.
And with 360 degrees of lush gardens, a crash landing never looked so beautiful -- especially when your treetop neighbors (sloths, toucans and monkeys galore!) join you for a friendly night cap. If adventure is your thing, the 727 Fuselage Suite is no doubt high (pun intended!) on your must-see list.
Of course, with a pricetag of $400-500 per night, I'd call this a semi-affordable adventure for a quick, Costa Rican getaway. Just be sure to fasten those safety belts...
