My grandmother is English, so every time I'm invited for tea, I gawk at her fine china collection and classic patterns. She's collected pieces from all over the world, some of which are pricier than my former monthly rent in Los Angeles. Of course, being the china expert she is, I've consulted her for advice on a few of the top china brands and patterns she's spotted to date. Many are simple, some are timeless --- but all are beautiful. Check out the list below!:
1. Vera Wang Vera Lace Fine Bone China Dinnerware
The Vera Lace china pattern features details reminiscent of the most delicate lace work, encircled by an elegant platinum border.
2. Villeroy & Boch Audun Ferme Fine China
Often called a "modern toile," Audun Ferme is vintage-inspired, but hardly old-fashioned. Each pastoral scene and toile accent was inspired by Villeroy & Boch's original design from over 200 years ago.
3. Waterford Ballet Ribbon Fine China Dinnerware
The Ballet Ribbon pattern owes its contemporary look to a fanciful interpretation of silk and satin ribbons which embellish a dancer's costume and precious pointe shoes. Like the time-honored techniques of classical ballet, Ballet Ribbon couples the purity and harmony of design with grace and elegance.
4. Wedgwood India Classic Fine Bone China
Wide banks of exotic blossoms on a field of parchment-textured ivory outlined with a thin line of pale saffron and dark arabesque border of flowers adds an undertone of spice and allure of India to this classic china pattern.
5. Spode Woodland Fine China Dinnerware
The Spode Woodland pattern was first introduced in 1990, but the pattern is actually a combination of two older Spode patterns. The border pattern is taken from Spode's British Flowers, which was a late introduction of the Spode period dating from about 1831. This border design was used in many varied ways with other center designs. One such pattern was number S135 of 1933, a Game Service, from which Woodland takes its inspiration.
