No doubt about it, talk show titan Ellen Degeneres is a serious real estate baller who buys and sells pricey properties like she's playing with Monopoly money. But baby, all that moo-lah is real, real, real.
In late 2007 the prolific property purchaser forked over a toe curling $29 million and change for "Will & Grace" co-creator Max Mutchnick's mansion in Beverly Hills, California, where she and actress Portia de Rossi were married in August of 2008.
Then she dumped well over $10 million buying up three of the surrounding properties and now, because one insanely expensive estate is never enough for this real estate addict, she shelled out many millions more to snatch up a horse ranch in the boonies outside Westlake Village, California.

Although Ellen has many times mentioned on her daytime gabfest that she and Portia bought a ranch over the summer, the couple's latest real estate acquisition has yet to be reported in any of the many celebrity real estate columns and blogs, even though property records reveal the deal was done way back in June of 2009. Ellen, being the power player that she is, managed to have the purchase price scrubbed from public records but listing information dug up on the internet shows the property was last listed with an asking price of $10,000,000.

According to listing information, the sprawling property has numerous residences including a single story, 10-room Spanish hacienda style main house that measures 6,329 square feet and includes 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.

The property, originally part of a much larger equestrian facility, was used as the quarantine site for the 2000 Olympics. It's where horses brought in from foreign lands were kept and tested for any diseases or issues that could compromise the health of the other horses brought in for the games.

Surrounded by oak-dotted sandstone mountains and kissed by cool breezes that sweep over from the Pacific Ocean, the bucolic 26+ acre estate on hoity toity Hidden Valley Road is a fully equipped equestrian facility with plenty of pastures and paddocks, stables and a riding ring.

In addition to the main house, there are several other residences, staff quarters and garaging for 4 cars.

This is not the first ranch property Ellen has owned. In May of 2005, not long after the A-list lesbians coupled up, they bought a 119-acre ranch on Armour Ranch Road in the Santa Ynez Valley which they've since sold. Ellen gave Portia a gray gelding named Jones and Portia gave Ellen a quarter horse named Puff, both of which are probably now housed in the deluxe stable complex of their new ranch in the wilds outside Westlake Village, CA.

this person is a homophobic jerk. I'm a heterosexual male & even I find this offensive
Reply"You go girl", what the hell does that mean? How about you go girl to hell? She has had a ton of success in entertainment, most probably due to the fact she's a fag. Money or no money she's is just a lowlife queer. Don't bother calling me "homophobic". If you have a grain of sense you should know it means fear of queers. I don't fear queers, they just make me sick.
ReplySORRY,SHES A LEZ and HAS A horse farm.I wonder why?
ReplyA rich lesbain whats this world coming to !

Replymark david of the real e STALKER-obviously not experienced in writing for the world of TODAY-it is the year 2009 CE. Had this repressive little twit another half brain he would make a great half-wit. One would suppose him to be one of the liar party of just say no repressive extremists on the faaaaaaaar right. Referring to Ellen G and Portia as a couple would certainly be enoug, does mark davID also refer to, oh who shall we pick Mat Boderick and his wife as the hetero couple? If so- fine-otherwise what exactly, specifically is mark davID's point or agenda. I'm a senior citizen-don't get much time to watch Ellen-yet every time I have her programs always provide a smile-are always fun and entertaining-unlike a women on another network who is as we all know, since she tells us so regularly, a genuine saint. Her programs are almost always about what is wrong with the world, wrong with us and how to fix same since she is not only soooo verrry intelligent but also perfect. One thing about St. OW though, lately her fashion and makeup role model is sure to be non-other than Ms. Piggy. WE, my wife and I enjoy Ellen much more, TiVo St OW and watch only programs where some guy is not jumping up and down on the set's furniture-or when St. OW is ragging some poor schnook she's peeeeed at, or examining private parts, or wearing too much bling for daytime gossip girl fest. Looking at elens gorgeous wife and her life-I believe we now have learned why they call them the GAY!!!
ReplyEllen, I am so very happy for you and your wife Portia. I have followed your career for many years. I loved your sitcom and was sad when they cancelled you. But I am so proud of you for standing your ground and being who you are. I know the road has not been easy, but well worth it. I admire your courage and persistence. I think the people that are negative towards you are simply jealous of what you have worked so hard to accomplish. My husband, daughter and myself love your talk show. Enjoy your ranch, it looks beautiful from the pictures. Good luck to you and Portia.
ReplyI am a 48 year old heterosexual female (who lacks the ability to spell correctly!). I, unlike few, have NOT experimented with the same sex. Although, I do not like PDA's, regardless of your sexual preference, enjoy Ellen's upbeat show for many reasons. First, it IS upbeat. Despite of the state of the economy, situations that are of other importance and so on. As the reader above commented, regardless what is going on, Ellen (verses St.O), can always at least start things with a smile and usually accompied by a laugh.
ReplyIt is NOT her place to take care of the world. She started, as many of us, in a normal household and made herself what she is. She was not raised with the silver spoon and is self made. Like St. O, but she doesn't make it a point to give extravogantly and more so, make a futher point of showing the world she can spread the wealth.
Like many, I would like someone to jump up to the plate to take care of the many outstanding bills I have, including my motrgage. BUT, it's my responsiblity. AND, I despite being recently disabled (which has thrown my budget into a tailspin), I KNOW that I am the one that is to take care of my own. Since we are on the subject of taking care of our own, St. O should start her charity to home. Not to take anything away from the girls in Africa whom are in desparate need for help, education and so on, as I was taught, you take care of your own first. Looks like she could look around the streets of Chicago and see all the young doing without. Or worse, see them learning all the trick of the trade (working the system) by thier elders. THEY are the innocent ones who are in need of help. Not only by being young, but more so, not even having a role model to show them the RIGHT way to do things.
Furthermore, I feel that calling other names; idiots, leso-bo's... it's insane. Who lives in glass houses? Who has the right to put down others because of thier success?
To Roan: Thumbs up! Great job, well said.
To igos4u99, Jollyrancher, Larry, Sue and Ben: Maybe if you could get a life, versus setting at home on a Saturday night, raving about a successful homosexual female, has succeeded in today's world. That many people enjoy her show and actually like her as a person is more than you can handle... get a life. Yes, it IS 2009, soon to be 2010. Wake up. THIS IS LIFE. DEAL WITH IT. YOU cannot change it. You can only change your narrow minded ways and realize that you can't change the world... or make people think like you do or like what you think is right (thank God). THAT is free will. YOU are responsible for yourself, no one else is unless you are under the age of 18. It has been my experience that when people are soooo outspoken about the sucess of others, it's due to thier failure. Notice: people rarely comment about the good people do, but many are hands on, right there to comment on the mistakes made by others. This only show thier way of dealing with thier failures. Seems to make some feel better by pointing out others downfalls. Makes thier lives feel a little more normal, knowing others have failed, versus others successes. Maybe think about what you could do/have done to help yourself, instead of wanting to judge a successful female, that happens to be gay.
I would trade places with her any day of the week. Ellen, call me if you would like to know what it's like to be poor, hungry, tired, un-happy, lonely, afraid, bored, out-of-work, out-of-money, and absolutey no sex-life or fun in my day what-so-ever. Just sayin'. Please call me if you would like to trade places w/me. I would love to live in your homes, sell your horses, and have "fun" w/your beautiful wife/lover or whatever she is to you. Thanks!
ReplyTo all of those yodels who are complaining that Ellen is buying real estate, while you can barely afford anything, here is an idea. Write in to her show and tell your story. In the month of November or "Doughvember" at the show, Ellen gave away hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and cars to families in need of help.
