Michelle Obama, Grace Kelly, Angelina Jolie and Coco Chanel. Need I say more? These women are some of the icons that are being lionized this month at Inspired Designs: A Show House Celebrating Extraordinary Women.
A handful of interior designers each decorated a suite of rooms in a brand-new condo building in New York City's Upper West Side. (The apartments here aren't cheap. Think: $8 to $25 million!) The space -- two apartments which encompass about 10,000 square feet -- features rooms inspired by a muse in the worlds of fashion, politics, or the arts, like a Deco-style bedroom with Grace Kelly at its backbone. Decorator Nancy Corzine combed through her own furniture line for pieces like a mirrored vanity table to channel the screen goddess-turned-princess's glamorous style.

It seems like dressing rooms figured large at the show house -- Bradley Stephens also conjured up a moody vanity and bedroom with singer Annie Lennox in mind. The Scots-woman and former Eurythmics front-liner was represented by edgy wallpapers like a Fornasetti floral and a Maya Romanoff gilt wall covering.
On the other end of the spectrum, an 80s extravaganza of floral Pratesi and Porthault bedding paired with chintz was Pat Kreisler's vision for Margaret Thatcher. Yes, that Margaret Thatcher, the former stateswoman across the pond. It seems like Kreisler did the 80s proud. My only question -- would Nancy Reagan be jealous?
The show house, which will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation founded by Evelyn H. Lauder, will be open until December 4th and is located at 535 West End Avenue in New York City.
