Walter Wobig, the police chief in Proctor, Minnesota, told the Duluth News Tribune, "We've had this vehicle in holding since Aug. 31, 2008, and if you would have told me then that it would sell for more than $10,000, I would have said you were nuts." Believe it or not, the department had attempted to sell it on eBay before, with bids reaching up to $43,000, but it remained unsold due to a technicality.
The chair's new lucky owner will be able to take advantage of its pleather exterior, lawn mower engine, stereo, cupholders, headlights, a nitrous oxide power boost system (use with caution!), drag racing style steering wheel and a parachute. Just one word of advice for the new owner: Don't drink and drive!
Anderson told the Duluth News Tribune that he already has plans drawn up for his next concoction, and it includes a love seat and a snowmobile undercarriage. I wonder if he'd come over and clear my driveway?
